Marianne Enzensberger had just finished writing and directing  her first feature film, and Gerd was on tour with his band Foyer des Arts, when they got together and decided to get loud. But her lyrics and his compositions demanded much more. Over the  years they created songs, film music, started bands, played in clubs and galleries,  released CD’s and music videos. So, Marianne is screaming like a slut, dancing  like Anita Berber, or  mourning  death in the streets.  She  sings like a child, or as a broken woman, sometimes softly sometimes loud. The ideas for songs are like flashes in her head, the results of dreams, brooding over something, or of what life is bringing her.

Gerd takes the lyrics and creates a world of his own. For each song. He ponders on the words, the meanings, and plays around with them, changes, plays again, until finally he is  able to present the song to the band. To Micha, Koma, Joseph, Tom. In a typical Berlin rehearsal room, 6m below the surface. In the process of rehearsing it eventually becomes their song as well.

Joseph Grabs plays horn, saxophone and melodica. He comes from a classical background. For many years he played in a youth orchestra, for which he’s getting a bit too old now, having turned 23. In the beginning he just played occasionally  on the recording of some tracks, but  gradually he  became more involved, and is now an important member of the band. A great singer, too.

Micha Köhler keeps it all together, playing percussion. He also sings background vocals and plays the Jew’s harp. He was initially helping with technical aspects of computers and electro rhythms, but soon  became a member of the band. He started as a teenager and has now already passed the 30 .

Tom Miodrag, very British, multi instrumentalist, bass player and background vovals in the band. He is a composer in his own right, and he performs solo as well. He loves British pop music, British Underground and his photos are stunning.

Koma Lüderitz. Grew up in Lower Saxony , influenced by theatre, punk, army BBC music stations and GDR TV (East German TV).

For 27 years he played in many Berlin bands, like The Planets, Sidewalk Poets and 17 Hippies.

He was also busy discovering folk music in its exotic origins, in his case in Bavaria.

Since 2019 he is the drummer of Slow Boat To China.

His drums can be very exotic, too, as he builds funny, but effective tools to add something to the usual drum kit.
