Slow Boat to China

A project with many names.

Started with music in the Berlin Underground: Unlimited Systems       1984 they released their album: „Half Broken Hearted“ Marianne and Gerd went on as NOMA in the Nineties and released their CD:          „Die Echse luegt“ (The Lizzard Lies)

Art projects, film music followed and after some electronic escapades they returned to having a band with an unusual set up: horn, cajon, percussion, jew’s harp, melodica, guitar, bass and drums.

Each track is a story, an experience, an adventure, something very personal that, encoded or not, is performed with verve and vigor.

Sophisticated arrangements, vocals, as solo or choir, the guitars weird or melancholic, ukulele, jew’s harp and harmonica. The band performs its music and lyrics with a sentimental or aggressive attitude. They invent sounds about stars and losers, poets and the homeless, chosing the language that they think fits best.  (English, German, French, Italian)

Their music calls to mind fleeting films or confused emotions.

Critics write: “The Goddesss of Gothic“, “Lady Godiva of the Underground“ or “Buster Keaton on guitar“, but that’s not the whole story. If ever. Perhaps it is more. Perhaps just Pop music.
